This will be one of our longer walks and is just under 9 miles. It will be a circular walk from St Mary's church at Eversley, next to Eversley Barn Antiques on the A327, and head through Bramshill plantation and on to the Blackwater River.
We will follow the river passing through some of the most scenic parts of the Blackwater Valley including the New Mill footbridge and Thatcher's Ford.
On the return we will pass through a hidden primrose patch in the middle of the plantation and pass by a pond I have been unable to show you in previous years because paths to it were far too wet and overgrown, but I've been snipping away at it and hopefully the current dry spell will continue. This will lead us by the site of the barrow at Cudbury Clump and back through Heath Warren.
There are 9 stiles or barriers on the way. Some of these are tall, some small and a couple a bit wonky but please don't be put off by these and we may be able to bypass a couple of them. It will be worth the effort as I'm sure we will be entertained by Kites, Kingfishers and Skylarks.
We have two main road crossings and some walking along quiet lanes and we also pass through farmland so dogs on leads at all times please. This route is not really suitable for prams and buggies.
I would hope to return to the church at 14:00.
Hope to see you.
